FOY ® Dentures were developed by Dr. Rod Strickland to address problems with the traditional denture process that led to poor fit. But what are the innovations that make FOY ® Dentures so different from traditional dentures?

Here are three key changes in the denture fitting process that help FOY ® Dentures to stand out from traditional dentures.

Physiologic Height

One of the best innovation of FOY ® Dentures is their goal of achieving physiologic height. What is physiologic height? Physiologic height is the optimal height of your mouth as determined by the development of your teeth and jaws when you were younger. This is the point at which your dentures will maximally fill the mouth so that they’re not too large to fit your mouth, but they are also able to replace the height lost with tooth loss and bone loss in the jaw. This is what gives them their “facelift” effect.

FOY ® Dentures dentists can do this in part because they relax the jaw with a TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) machine, a kind of electric massage. This removes the acquired habits of your previous dentures and prevents your new dentures from being limited by those habits.

Dynamic Border Molding

Another innovation that helps FOY ® Dentures achieve better fit is the use of dynamic border molding. Normal denture impressions are taken with your mouth in a static position. With physical impression materials, you can’t really open and close your mouth while trying to get a good impression.

But TENS stimulation allows us to encourage movement of the muscles that will impact the fit of your dentures as you’re opening and closing your mouth. With this, you can get dentures that are more secure in your mouth as you talk, bite, and chew.

3 Axis Fitting

With traditional denture fitting, the impression material is placed in your mouth and you bite down. The dentist usually eyeballs the result to see if your face is crooked. If not, then you’re good to go.

But with FOY ® Dentures, we take a scientific approach. We realize that denture fit has to be perfect along all three axes: pitch, roll, and yaw. We make sure that your dentures fit precisely in all three of these dimensions.

Why does this matter? If your dentures don’t have the proper pitch, it will cause your head to tilt forward or backward. Poor fit in the roll dimension can cause your head to tip left or right. And poor fit in the yaw dimension means that your dentures won’t face the same way as your mouth, the midline of the denture won’t match the midline of your face. But when all these dimensions are perfect, you with have straighter, more comfortable, and more secure dentures.
