Here are some tips to help you keep your FOY® Dentures in good condition for years to come.
Learn the New Chew
Unless they’re implant dentures, FOY® Dentures aren’t anchored in your jaw like natural teeth. They’re more secure than traditional dentures, but may not be secure enough to use a natural chewing pattern.
Learn the new chewing pattern (straight up and down, as opposed to both sideways and up and down) to help your dentures stay in place and reduce damaging stresses.
Remove and Rinse
Speaking of eating, it’s a good idea to take your dentures out and rinse them after using them to eat. Rinsing food residue from them will help to avoid the accumulation of stains and odors on your dentures.
FOY® Dentures utilize ceramic teeth and a high-density PMMA base that makes them resistant to stains and odors. However, they can still get stained over time. Taking this precaution will help your dentures last longer.
Handle Dentures Carefully

Again, FOY® Dentures are stain- and odor-resistant, but not stain- and odor-proof.
Soak dentures in water when you’re not wearing them to keep them from warping. Use a denture soak regularly to help them stay clean.
Remember to rinse your dentures before putting them back in, especially if you soaked them in a denture cleaning solution.
Get Regular Dental Check-Ups
Regular dental checkups can help you ensure your dentures aren’t causing problems for your oral health. The dentist can also check for signs of poor fit to help you keep enjoying the tight fit of FOY® Dentures that you love.
In addition, your dentist can professionally clean your dentures, which might reduce the amount of bacteria that accumulate on them.
Avoid Damaging Cleaners
Always use approved denture cleaning tools. If you need a home-made cleaning soak for your dentures, you can try a 1:4 vinegar to water solution. Other approaches to cleaning your dentures can lead to serious damage.
Avoid abrasive cleaners, like powdered household cleaners, stiff-bristled brushes, or scouring pads on dentures. These can create scratches on the dentures, which make the accumulation of stains and oral bacteria more likely.
The American Dental Association (ADA) and the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) disagree on the use of toothpaste to clean dentures. The ADA says that toothpaste can safely clean dentures, but the ACP points out research that shows most toothpaste is too abrasive for dentures. If you are going to use toothpaste, make sure it is very mild. Avoid anything marked “whitening” or “tartar control.”
Never soak dentures in bleach. Don’t put dentures in hot water, as this can lead to warping.
Be Cautious with Denture Adhesives

However, you should not use more than a few pea-sized dollops on your dentures, and you should completely remove the adhesive from your dentures and your mouth every night.
